WIC Biel 2008

WIC Biel 2008先週の WIC Zurich に続き、今週末9日にも WIC Biel がスイスで開催されます。先週同様、USA Luigino Answer Wheels が参戦すると思います。

Switzerland. Cows, cheese, chocolate, banks and … What else comes in your mind when you hear the word «Switzerland»? Right: watches! The most sucessful and known Swiss brands have their headquarters in Biel: Rolex, Omega, Swatch. The people from Biel in general tick differently than the rest of Switzerland. They are bilingual, have German precision in their head and French charm in their heart - and in their blood that casual something, a touch of - laissez-faire» so to speak. This mix makes them so sympathetic that the Swiss Inline Cup Biel will be held for the first time with the international status Top Class: Biel World Inline Cup on August 9th 2008. The professionals do 36 kilometres, the first of the six laps by day light, the last by night. Thousands of spectators follow the race, sit in front of their coffee shops and bars and spur on the athletes - yes, they tick differently, the people from Biel.

Mantia did it again!

Joey Mantia After Zug and Zurich, the US Joey Mantia (Luigino Answer Wheels) wins again in the city famous for their watches. Mantia controlled together with his teammate Massimiliano Presti the very fast and spectacular race. They kept the speed high on the challenging and winding course through the center of Biel. Joey Mantia won the sprint of the pack once more in a impressive way. Second got the French Yann Guyader (Powerslide Alessi World) and he won with this very good result the overall ranking of the Swiss Inline Cup 2008. His teammate Fabio Francolini (ITA) got third.

At the women's race, the number one team Bont Wheels around Cecilia Baena (COL) dominated the race. Alexandra Vivas (COL - Bont Wheels) won at the end. Giovanna Turchiarelli (ITA - Powerslide Alessi World) got second and Brittany Bowe (USA - Luigino Answer Wheels) got third.

Beil Drama

by Bill Begg (Aug. 9, 2008)
A very big night for Alessi Powerslide, with Yann Guyader 2nd, Fabio Francolini 3rd,Stefano Galliazzo 4th & Matteo Amabili 6th, Guyader had a comfortable lead going into tonights final race to win in the Swiss Inline Cup, But when arch Rival Luca Saggioratto crashed out of contention 500 meters from home, it made for an easy win,

This allowed for Alessi Powerslide to run away with the teams overall title.

But the effort by Alessi Powerslide tonight has brought them to within 27 points of Rollerblade MPC in the Overall team standings, Rollerblade MPC 2,335 pts, Alessi Powerslide 2,308 pts, Matter World Inline Center 1,552 pts.

The Crash by Saggioratto has virtually gifted The French star Yann Guyader with the World Cup Swiss Inline cup double & with Cuncu & Galliazzo not tied up with World Championship committements, there is the prospect of Hallum & the Coni X Race, to grab valuable team points before Berlin.

BONT WHEELS win Ladies.
In the ladies Alexandra Vivas won the event & her 2nd WIC win of the year, it Gauranteed her 2nd place in the Swiss Inline Cup, which was won by team mate Cecilia Baena, Bont won the teams event from Matter World Inline center & Alessi Powerslide.

Unfortunately BONT WHEELS lost out on a clean sweep opportunity, when Nicole Begg was shunted out, at the last roundabout, to nullify her chances, ending up a lowly 14th.

In the WIC Bont already have wrapped up the Title.

Max Presti's health
After Beil the big question is how is Max Presti's health? Does anyone know, if he was hospitalized as rumoured ?

With a big presence of first aid officers & medical personal, if one was not feeling well after the race, surely thats where you would head to, instead of taking off alone.

Not come back past the finish, then turn around amongst the traffic forming around the finish line, then take off back in the direction of the hotel.

Many unanswered questions on everyones lips & with the constant announcements for Max to report & his non appearance at the presentation, which is mandatory,if you want your money, then did the WADA crew catch up with Max & do the test, or has he a serious health problem, which ever way he is likely to be in doubt for Hallum & the Coni X Race & Berlin.

WIC/SIC Biel: no podium for Rollerblade MPC World in the race...

The skaters from Rollerblade MPC World obtained no podium in Biel, for the finale of the Swiss Inline Cup. But Nicolas Iten won the national title of the marathon, which was also raced during this event!
Vincent Esnault, 10.08.2008
Luca Saggiorato felt in the ultimate lap of the ultimate stage of the SIC. The pace was approaching the red flame when the Italian couldn’t prevent from a fall… As a consequence, Luca remains at the second place of the WIC’s provisional ranking, with his team mates Francesco Zangarini and Diego Rosero close behind. But for the overall win, it will be very hard to get it now: Yann Guyader (the provisional leader) captured a second place in Biel (with Matia first), and some important points before the coming stages of the series.

The men’s race presently was very fast, with many attempts of break in the fastest parts of the circuit, and even in the city center part. But the main teams decided to close the race, and to catch each attack back in. As a proof of the high speeds, the fastest lap was raced in 8’27 (for 6kms), and the less fast in 8’50! Actually, the fastest lap was the last one: it was a game between the skaters who wanted to go away to prevent themselves from a bunch sprint, and the leader’s teams. And you know who won? The race finally ended in a bunch sprint…

Joey Mantia (Luigino Answer) managed to fly over the Alessi Powerslide train and to capture a second win in a row in the WIC/SIC after Zurich, in a powerful manner. Yann Guyader and his team mate Fabio Francolini were following, taking the silver and the bronze. The Rollerblade MPC athletes couldn't catch any podium: Diego Rosero entered in the Top 10, at the 10th rank, whereas his partner Nicolas Iten was closely following at the 11th rank. Anyway, it’s Nicolas second national title in 2008 after the one of the half marathon: congratulations to him!

By her side, Alexandra Vivas (Bont Wheels) captured a second win in the WIC series in the ladies race this season: the Colombian crossed the line one wheel in front of Giovanna Turchiarelli (Alessi Powerslide) in 1h02’01. Laura Lardani (Rollerblade MPC World) finished close behind, at the 5th place, and Jana Gegner at the 8th place. The race also finished in a bunch sprint, with about 30 skaters in the leading pace!

Yann Guyader and the Powerslide Alessi mens team win the Swiss Inline Cup 2008

by JP (Aug. 13, 2008)
The race started at 6.00 p.m with a fresh weather and all teams showed up for the last SIC race 2008.

Right from the beginning of the race, some teams started to escape but the teams from Powerslide/Alessi and Rollerblade always managed to catch them. The Powerslide Phuzion team also attacked a lot, but with just 36 km the race was too short and the speed too high which made it impossible to be successful. So everybody prepared for the final sprint.

In the last lap, 4 km to go, Powerslide Phuzion started to lead the pack with Kwinten Tas doing the first part of the job. Then, 2 km to go, Pascal Ramali took the lead to make the last effort and let Nicolas and Felix in a good position for the sprint in the tricky circuit. Nobody was able to pass in all the lap because the high speed of the pack till 800 mts to the finish when Powerslide Alessi attacked with Mantia and Presti behind them. The race was won by Joey Mantia, a specialist in that kind of sprints, and really close was Yann Guyader followed by his teammates Fabio Francolini and Stefano Galliazzo. Matteo Amabili got 6th and 7th was DJ Nation (Matter/Inlinecenter). Finally, Nicolas Zamudio and Felix Rijhnen from Powerslide Phuzion captured place 8 and 9. It was a really god weekend for the Powerslide family with with seven skaters in the top 10.

The woman race was won by Alexandra Vivas (Bont) in a really close finish with Giovanna Tucharelli (Powerslide/Alessi) who still suffers from a knee injury. The race was tactical like always and everybody was waiting for the final sprint as well like in the men´s race. Britanny Bowe was third.

Interview with Yann GUYADER.

Yann Guyader is the new champion of the Swiss Inline Cup 2008 and the Powerslide Alessi team won the overall ranking as well. Cecilia Baena is the new SIC champion in the womans category. Bont won the overall ranking followed by Powerslide Alessi.

The next race will take part in Berlin with the X race WIC C1 in the last week of August.
