2009 World masters Marathon

また World Master?

Hi Skaters.

My good friend & the genuine skaters fairest referee & not an Imposter, has forwarded to me to post, thanks to Barbara Fisher, who at least thinks of the skaters, lets just hope Sandro gets you there as the referee.

Good news is the big Pavova meet at the same time, we raced the marathon course last year, the nearest road to the sea & lots of spectators, Sando will organize a freat event, one of the best organizors we have in the sport, with a couple of very good sidekicks, the masters deserve a good event & I trust Sando will bring it to them.

World Masters Marathon Championships Teolo/Italy - Sunday Sept. 6, 2009

by FIRS Secretariat (Aug. 19, 2009)
The 2009 World Master Marathon Championship, formerly scheduled at Chioggia (Venice) has been moved to a different location due to the length of the competition track (4 km) and the short time available, both affecting the best outcome of the event.

The Organising Committee has finally selected the track in Teolo, used for the 2007 edition with excellent results and favourable comments from the participants. This is a 8 km track totally closed to traffic, performing some slopes, between mounts Solone and Lonzina, in the Colli Euganei Natural Park. Registrations can be done online on the www.padovagrandprix.it website, at the World Roller Country Marathon page

Debbie Rice wins a rainbow jersey
at the FIRS World Masters Marathon

    (Sep. 6, 2009)
just won the master world championships today!! what an amazing feeling to hear the national anthem being played while in another country!
Debbie Rice (BarbieBont): Twitter and MySpace
Copied from Inlineplanet.com : "Amazing news from Italy. Bont's Debbie Rice won the women's Master Worlds Marathon today. Norm Kirby finished seventh in the men's marathon. Debbie sent this report: recap of race... i was the only skater without a team mate, so i decided to play it safe and sit in the back of the pack and pick them off one at a time.. the italians tried breakaways on the uphills numerous times, and i ended up bridging the gaps.. at one time 3 girls got away and i had to bridge that one as well.. the course was nice but technical, tight turns, smooth and rough at times, right and left turns, hills and downhills, and the finish was a long smooth stretch with a slight left hand turn right before the line which helps the indoor skaters.. organizers did a great job, awards was just like at regular worlds, got the world champion jersey and medal, played the national anthem, a girl from germany placed second and austria came in third, italian in 4th.. not sure how the rest panned out.. at the end of the race it came down to a field sprint.. on the last stretch i was in about 7th, and the pace started to pick up so i had to make a decision on whether to sit in and wait and go for it, or pull out early and make a line on the inside so that the others would not jump in front of me and block.. i chose the latter and took the inside lane and just started stroking as long and hard as i could, and passed them all on the inside, then the left hand turn came and i sprinted around it and won, but it was pretty close, the germany girl was only a few feet back... here is norms recap.. he was of course out numbered by all the other teams, the itialians had about 15 team members, switzerland 10ish, and so on... a breakaway of 5 guys got away after the midway point, and norm keyed upon the italian national team members thinking that they would bridge the gap on the breakaway, but it never happened.. all were caught except the top 3. it came down to a field sprint for 4th through 9th, separated by less than a second, and he placed 7th.. the weather was absolutely perfect! not a cloud, 70ish temp, and no wind.... couldnt have asked for better conditions"

CONGRATULATIONS DEBBIE AND GOOD JOB NORM!

Unfortunate for the athletes of Vitamins & Co. Ferrara, the second test (Over 30 male and female) where Luca Bernacchia getting stuck in a hard sprint to victory compact ranks, with confirmation of title, from Ravenna Alessio Ballardini.

In the third test is not assigned titles but the victory of the 10th World Country Roller Marathon, the marathon runners on the city of Padua. Already suffered from the departure looming duel between the boys Vitamins & Co.
