WIC Cartagena 2009

Diego takes the 4th place in Cartagena

Vincent Esnault (Mar. 16, 2009)
Diego Rosero captured the fourth place at the WIC first marathon in Cartagena, Colombia. The Colombian concluded a good race in the bunch sprint.

The first marathon of the biggest series in the world took place last Sunday on the seashore, on a 4,8km circuit. Quite fast, a group of about 20 skaters was leading the race, which was concluded in a bunch sprint. After 57'15 of race, Joey Matia (USA, Luigino) captured the win, in front of his team mate Massimiliano Presti, and Yann Guyader (Powerslide). Diego finished very close to the podium, at the fourth rank. More to come soon...

From what I can understand the marathon took place under hot conditions exceeding 32 degrees. Kelly Martinez was the highest place finisher for the team coming in 5th, Tamara Llorens 7th and Alexandra Vivas 8th after making a couple of breakaway attempts.
