Powerslide Racing News: WorldInlinecenter Matter team shows its muscles
WorldInlinecenter Matter team shows its muscles
This weekend the WorldInlinecenter/Matter team showed its true strength to the world. Saturday the team won the T Track relay race in Weinfelden, on the brandnew Code Red EMT wheels. These had arrived by courier just in time for Weinfelden and turned out to be the fastest choice. Then saturday, Yann Guyader took the victory in the World Inline Cup race of Weinfelden. In front of icons like Diego Rosero and Massimiliano Presti. The fourth spot was taken by Fabio Francolini, who once again confirmed his determination to battle for the WIC ranking podium. Notable were also the results of young Peter Michael, who grabbed a strong 8th position, and of Nelson Garzón, who won the group sprint for a ninth place.
Sunday, third day of racing, the scenery was now Dijon, France. Winner was Mthieu Boher, but right behind him it was Nelson Garzón, once more confirming his good shape. The fifth place was taken by his World Inlinecenter/Matter teammate Jorge Cifuentes. Surprisingly strong also Shinki Yamamoto, the Timmermand Powerslide skater, he finished 8th!

Hi Skaters,
Just back from Dijon, the expected storm & rain did not happen, just a few spots towards the end of the ladies race, that dried up quickly.
As usual the races at Dijon provided lots of breakaways, at a fast pace.
Bont 3 point skates got their third WIC victory of the year, when Nicole Begg Ssangyong Jesa Bont, was finally rewarded for her constant attacks.FIC Dijon 2007 marathonOn Saturday Max Prest Bont Hyper was 3rd,in the Weinfelden WIC event, with Giovanni Conte World Inline Center Bont in 6th place & teamate Wayne Begg 14th, as the 3 points continue to be prominate in the big events. On the Friday night Bank Track relays, Ssangyong Jesa Bont team was 2nd, with the fastest female around the track on the Bont 3 point skates.
3 min 4 sec - Jun 13, 2007
In the ladies event the Sportvital Rollerblade pair of Llorens & Penan, along with Nicole Begg tested each other out, with attacks & breaks, near midway through Janitta Spigt Cado Motus, drifted off the front to a 200 meter lead.
This was shortly lived as by the halfway Mark, after a lot of softening up, with constant bursts from Ghizlane Samir Ssangyong Jesa Bont & Linda Schellekens Decathlon, Llorens & Begg broke away, to be joined by the World Inline Center Japanese skater Shinozuka Nachi, following up from a 9th in Weinfelden, these 3 continued to share the lead.
While back in the main pack Andrea Gonzales with a return to top form, covered everyone that tried to break clear, along with her Ssangyong Jesa Bont teamates Tina Struver & Ghizlane Samir, they ensured no one else, got to join the break, with Struver leading out the Bunch sprint to ensure Gonzales of 4th place, in a good overall showing by Ssangyong Jesa Bont team, for the first time this year.
In the break of 25 km Shinozuka could not keep up with Llorens & Begg, as the two considered the strongest ladies in the WIC continued to share the lead. With 3 laps to go & 6.6 km Begg attacked Llorens to break clear, with 2 laps to go the gap was 15 secs, at the bell 33 sec, going on to win by 50 secs, Llorens came in 2nd, with Shinozoka 3rd 1 min 28 secs back.
With the main group who had been lapped and kept under control by Ssangyong Jesa Bont team, 4 minutes back, as Gonzales lead in Penan Sportvital Rollerblade, with Touchstones Justine Halbout 6th, with Schankel World teammember Livia Meier Switzerland 7th, her best ever WIC result, Laetitia Le Bihan Henniez came in 8th.
A great race & brotherly love did not prevail, as one Dobbin brothers team, tried there best to ensure the World Sprint champion Kalon, was not present, in good shape for the final sprint.
With so many attacks, it was near impossibly to keep track of who was where, but the Matter Colombian pair Cifuentes & Garzon were very prominent along with Shane Dobbin.
After the countless attacks & softening up a group of 8 finally survived together, Boher Team RPM Poli, Cifuentes, Matter World Inline Center, S. Dobbin Sportvital Rollerblade, K. Dobbin Powerslide Phuzon, Garzon Matter World Inline Center, Gloor Power Play Team, Iten Sportvital Rollerblade & Yamamoto Timmerman Powerslide, survived the gruelling & testing race to finish in that order.
While Rollerblade & Matter tried every trick in the book, to try & drop Kalon Dobbin out of contention, as well as covering each other, non World cup skater Matthiew ( BOBBY ) Boher slipped away on the last lap to win by 6 sec.
It was a silly mistake, as Boher had placed 3 times on the Podium, due to breakaways in the WIC, 2 years earlier.
Cifuentes showed silk like skills to jump Shane Dobbin on a narrow blindside to grab 2nd place, with Kalon Dobbin comming in 4th. with Garzon 5th, Gloor in 6th, Iten 7th & Yamamoto 8th, to round out the breakaway.
Belguim Jasper Corne Bont World Inline Center who had lead a break of 3 to try & Bridge the gap lead in Sourisseau Team Sarth, Peridy Team Renard, Dimmack CMS World Inline Center & the veteran Boulard Levallois rounding out the bakers dozen.
There were a number of smaller groups prior to the main group, at the last bend Aaron Arnd't World Inline Ceter Bont, Kimmo Llmavirta Bont Finland & Kert Kespaik Estonia broke clear of the main group to claim, 29th, 39th & 31st, Certainly Arnd'ts & Kespaiks best performances in the WIC to date.
Right on their heels the main bunch arrived, with World Junior Marathon Champ Peter Micheal Powerslide Phuzon beating Begg, Sanchez, Guyader Heckman & Perkinson accross the line.
The men averaged a high 41.46 kmph.
