Happiness. In the Asian world, the crane is a symbol for happiness and a long life. «Durumi» means crane in Korean, and many destricts of Incheon are named after the crane. And also for the Incheon World Inline Cup 2007 goes: DURUMI luck!

World Inline Cup in INCHEON

Korea. A gateway to Northeast Asia with both international port and international airport in its hand, Incheon is located 28 kilometres from the nation’s capital Seoul. Today over 2,6 million people live in Incheon which is one of the three major cities of Korea. The rose and the tulip tree are the symbolic plants of the city, blue is Incheon’s colour and the crane Incheon’s animal. With the goal to become one of the most important cities economically in Northeast Asia huge projects are planned: the realization of a free economical zone (2020), the construction of the 640 m high «Incheon» with 151 stories (2012) and the completion of the 21,5 km long Incheon Bridge (2009). Important, big and strong – these are the standards that also the organizer of the Incheon World Inline Cup demand, which takes place on June 3rd 2007 on the North Beach Highway. New: the winner of the marathon receives 200 world cup points. Expo, start and finish are for the first time at the Wangsan Beach.

The Results of the Incheon WIC

The Italian Massimilano Presti (Bont Hyper) wins the fourth race of the World Inline Cup in Incheon (Korea). The overall winner of 2006 beat the surprising Korean Yong Hoon Lee and the Columbian Jorge Cifuentes (Matter World Inline Center).
Presti attacked already after 7 km done and only the Korean Yong Hoon Lee followed him. It was only the second breakaway in the race. Presti was very strong and after half of the race done, he was about one minute in front of the pack. At the end he won the sprint against the Korean very clear.

The Italian Laura Lardani (Sportvital Rollerblade) won in the sprint of the women's race. The Spain Sandra Gomez (Alessi Powerslide World) got second and Tamara Llorens (Sportvital Rollerblade) got third.

INCHEON inside race report

Last sunday in South Korea took place the 4th stage of the World Inline Cup. The race took place on a brand new circuit close to the see side. It was a 2 laps race on a kind of highway with smooth and rough roads.

The race started at 9.30 in the morning with a great sunny weather and high temperatures. It was quite cool for the skaters used to skate in the rain since the beginning of the season to skate with great weather conditions. Right after the start there were a lot of breakaways with all the big teams of the WIC.

After arround 10k Massi attacked with a Korean in his draft. Massi was smart to attack on the little hill of the circuit and the roughest part of the ground. Nobody really shased at the beginning as everybody thought we would caught them pretty soon.

After half race all the teams realize it was time to shase hard and all the teams took two guys to the front to shase the brakers. But nothing happened the gap was still the same, a lot of skaters decided to attack alone then. For 10k the race was amazingly fast and hard with a lot of attacks.
Who said that Max and Yong dude had a lot of assistance from a motorbike ? Never say that.
The Matter guys were always at least 1 guy in each breakaway. Fabio from Powerslide was also one of the main attacker.6k to the end 9 guys attack again with 3 guys from the Powerslide family. Fabio from PS Phuzion and Jorges and Yann from Matter. Well done for Matter who was the only team to have several guys in the breakaway.

Yann knew the others would try to follow them in the sprint, thats why at 1k to go he asked Jorges to attack fast in order to make the others shased and get tired, but finally Cifu was too strong and nobody shased fast enough to catch him. Behind him it was the best situation for Yann who loves little group sprint. He won his both WIC last year in that race condition.

700meters to go Kepa Caballero(another guy from the Powerslide family belonging to the Alessi Int'l team) tried to attack. Behind everybody was snaking cause they all wanted to stay behind Yann for the sprint.

Finally Ben Alchin decided to shase Keppa followed by Diego Rosero, Fabio and Yann. 350 to the end Yann decided to pass on the rigth but a the same time Diego Rosero saw him passing and decided to launch his sprint on the left, Yann jumped into his draft and finally overtook him 50 meters to the end and caught the 4 place.

Incheon was a great success for the Powerslide family with 5 guys in the top 10 with Jorges 3rd(after only contesting 3 WIC events and a 24h travel),Yann 4th, Fabio 6th, Matteo Amabili 8th and Kepa 10th.

Behind in the bunch sprint Thomas and Nelson who both did attack a lot too during the whole race got 3rd and 4th of the bunch sprint but were displaced without any reason. Everybody is still wondering why the korean referees decided to displace them.

We have to notice anyway that the Matter World Inline Center team was the only team to have his 4guys in the top 15 and was without this problem the team that got the most points in that event.

It's a least good for the confidence and we hope for the same success in the coming events for the young and brand new Matter team Everybody hope all the Powerslide and Matter guys will continue to catch that kind of good results till the end of the season.
