In this traditional event we are not competing against the clock. We are enjoying the skating and the scenery. There will be skaters of varied skill levels participating and we all want to enjoy skating at speed enjoyable for ourselves. 3 to 6 different skating groups allows you to choose the skating speed between 15 to 25 km/h. You can change group whenever you feel like it. The service bus following the skaters all the time enables you to choose the number of skating days as well as the daily skating distance, according your feeling and weather conditions. The organisers will take care of accommodation and meal arrangements, so you can concentrate fully on skating.

Can I participate?
Finline is a skating event also YOU can participate in. Previous experience of several day skating tours is not necessary. To join you only need to
have experience of skating tours of 50 km - you are able to skate 50 km a day at your own speed
be able to enjoy a vacation week among other skaters

What does it cost? And what is included?
The participation fee will be about 150 euro including the services of the bus including snacks, transportation of your equipment during the skating, a technical t-shirt, and the bus transportation from Helsinki to Hanko and back to Helsinki from Kotka on the last day. FinLine 2012 - recreational long-distance skating event in Europe

By panuworld (Oct. 26, 2011)
Hello all US and other skaters!

The 21st FinLine long-distance skating event in Finland will take place on 2nd – 7th July 2012. The starting city is Hanko and the final destination is Kotka. (Preliminary information).

The basic concept will be the old good one: FinLine is an event targeted for all skaters with 50 miles/day basic skating skills around the globe. We prefer having fun to speed. (Those who like that speed = fun, may do that also; different types of skaters are welcome.)

Type FinLine in YouTube to see various video clips from the previous FinLine events. Skating may not look like luxury but one important tradition on FinLine has been to invest on the accommodations and other (evening) program during the week - to keep you motivated and relaxed to skate the whole week.

FinLine 2012 - info package 2

By Bosse (Feb. 13, 2012)
Hi,

Here is the next a little more detailed info package about next summer's Finline. Included is also payment instructions. You are alreay all registered for Finline, which is why I am sending this so that you can see each others e-mail addresses. You might want to be in contact before the event and there are some returnees from last year (like Susanne and Alan) that you might want to contact. For the ladies you might want to contact Susanne (susanne.hutsch@web.de) regarding the t-shirt size. Last summer it seemed that the supplier (which we will be using gain ths summer) had a somewhat different sizing for ladies than normal. Let me know if you want to change your t-shirt size.

Your registration will be finalized as soon as we have received your payment. We will notify you when the payment has arrived. The next nd final information package will be sent out to participants in early June. Our time of departue from helsinki on Monday morning will be around 9 a.m. and our arrival back in Helsinki on Saturday around 4 p.m. in case you want to make flight resarvations. It is a little early yet, but we will come back with some pre and post Finline accomodation suggestions for those who have requested it.
I guess that is all for now. Do't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Regards from a cold and snowy Helsinki.

Our service bus is following the skaters all the time giving water and some snacks (fruits, biscuits, pickled cucumber) during the breaks, but otherwise (e.g. lunch) the skaters have to take care of their food during the day.

What does it cost? And what is included?
The participation fee will be 150 euro including the services of the bus including snacks, transportation of your equipment during the skating, a technical t-shirt, and the bus transportation from Helsinki to Hanko and back to Helsinki from Kotka on the last day. In addition you have to pay a membership fee to the Street 25 euro. Furthermore there are the costs of the dinners and accommodations (including breakfasts), about 50 - 70 euro per day and possible lunch and own snack costs during the skating. The Street Gliders’ aim is not to make a profit on the FinLine skating event. The only goal is to cover the real costs of the arrangements by the participation fee. If the participation fee turns to be too high compared to the costs, the surplus will be credited to participants during the trip.

Registration and additional information:
As we want to maintain a cozy small event feeling on Finline and because it will be easier to findaccomodations for the group the number of participants is limited to 30.
