The site is really worth a look:

4 big German city races with a total of 22.000 Euros prize money.

The Iguana Thinktank's (GLOBAL SPORTS GROUP) subunit: Iguana Deutschland is the organizational force behind the German Inline Cup. They want to attract more attention to the sport (better media, better for supporters and partners).

There are numerous regional inline cups, but I'll just quickly expain the two national series:

German Blade Challenge: Large National Series, 13 Race weekends sometimes with mutliple races. Been around for the last couple of years
German Inline Cup: 4 Race Series - Made by Iguana Deutschland, a sub. of the Iguana Thinktank.

The two series don't directly compete for the skaters, as any team could easily skate both.Everybody is hoping for better coverage with the GIC, with it as a new plattform to present speed skating to the mass media.

GBC coordinator is pissed, because he has purchased the sole rights to the only national series through the German speed skating federation. He sees the GIC as a threat to his series -> But GIC is just a "Cup" with 4 races...
