New Germany Inline Speed Team Speedlager.de was known by Andrew's Speed Skating Blog last December. And the Speedlager.de team posted the preseason camp video on the YouTube net before the 7th German Blade Challenge in 2008.
Speedlager Team Meeting Jan 2008
Team Speedlager.de 2008 has decided to make good use of youtube. They are now promoting their team with videos. The first one is a training video from their team meeting this weekend. The team known for their early starts (good for photos) and white suits will be fighting to get a member into the top 10 of the German Blade Challenge this season. "If we would leave out Thorben Woehlki I think we'd have the youngest GBC team this season!" We'll see if thats true..
The Hamburg based Speedlager.de Team is leaving the GBC Club-Competition level this year after disappointing, consecutive second places (behind the ETAP Race Team). They will stay true to most of their skaters though: Thorben Woelhki, Sören Harder and Julien Tiedtke will form the basis of the team, just like last year. The young and successful track skater Tobias Hecht will support the team at track meets (also unchanged)
Now the only question is: Who will join the team?
I take it as public knowledge that they were bidding for th Danish Hartz brothers, and if it were not for the GBC Club Competition I bet they would already be skating for Speedlager... But with the Hartz brothers off to Berlin and maybe the WIC... The first place to start (since all of Hamburg's speed skating power has been used up) is Tobias Hecht's home club: RSV Gera. With him promoting the team to Gera's speed skating talents, somebody strong is bound to join.
And who other than Denis Dressel would be fit for the team!? The 2007 member of the Powerslide Phuzion team reached a 2nd place at the German nationals in the 300m sprint and was a member of the national team at the World Champs in Columbia.
Now Denis is a 100% first pic.
That still leaves room for one more skater. The best thing to do would be add another former Powerslide member (since the team is far apart at least some of the members know how each person skates)... Maybe Martin Matyk? (I really don't know this one.)
Merry Christmas to you all! Andrew's Speed Skating Blog: Team Speedlager 2008? (Dec. 23, 2007) www.Speedlager.de: Speedlager.de Team
