The SkateFresh Tour is back for 2008

The 2008 event is scheduled from Monday 9. June till Sunday 15. June

The SkateFresh Tour 2008 is a five-day recreational skating-tour through Holland. Similar events took place in 2005 and 2006. SkateFresh wants to bring inline-skaters from many countries together to have fun, to exchange experiences, to learn about other skating-events and to enjoy the beautiful Dutch countryside with the unique cycle path-network, perfect for skaters!

During the tour, that will take place from June 9 till June 15 2008, participants will sleep in tents. Luggage will be transported in a lorry, the organisation will serve a basic breakfast and arrange an affordable dinner. Skating-distances vary from 50 to 80 kilometres a day, and the speed will be about 19 km/h. Skaters who have experience with long distances and who are able to brake safely are welcome!

The planning in brief is:

• Monday 9 (The Gathering): We’ll meet in the afternoon or early evening of Monday, 9 june 2008 in Bunde.
  
• Tuesday 10 (Back to Burgundy): We skate between the river Meuse and the Juliana-channel, passing a very not-Dutch scenery with castles, small villages with big churches and old farmhouses
  
• Wednesday 11 (Dikes dikes dikes): Day 3 starts in the village of Arcen with it’s beautifull castle and gardens. From here we take the ferry to westbank of the Maas. We’ll cross the river several times today. At the end of the day we’ll see some large lakes near the river, where we might have a drink.
  
• Thursday 12 (Visiting the Dukes of Brabant): Day 4 takes us to the capital and former home of the Dukes of Brabant: s’Hertogenbosch
  
• Friday 13 (Woods and Dunes of Brabant): Day 5 leads through to forested dunes of Brabant
  
• Friday 14 (Manhattan on the Maas): Day 6 we will take us to the end of the tour in Rotterdam. After having a drink there we will board the busses taking us back to Limburg, where we will have a farewell-party.
  
• Sunday 15 (Getting rid of the head-ache): On the seventh day we take a rest of all the skating we did. After a late wake-up and breakfast it’s time to go home!

The above program is meant to give an impression and is not an exact description. The route/program might still change slightly. More details will be made available in the weeks before the event.

We didn't take any risks for the weather! The south of Holland is the most sunny part of the Netherlands, and according to statistics, the months June and May are the most sunny and dry months of the year!

So don't forget your suncream and sunglasses !
