MPC Wheels Breaking...

I'm just wondering....am I the only person that is snapping Mpc wheels? I love them...I just keep snapping the hubs... I've snapped the blue indoor wheel...actually 3 of them.....and also the green street fighter....and the gold VT's.....I mean I've done extremely well on the wheels...I just snap them while I'm training...and it's usually one of the two back wheels on both skates.

Hello

I don't know what "weak hub problem" you are referring to. I have just finished reading through this entire thread again that began with asking the question, "I'm just wondering....am I the only person that is snapping Mpc wheels?" and I have found just the original poster that is having a problem with "snapping hubs". The other individual had a wheel come off the hub (different problem and issue).

In all the millions of wheels sold, the number of hubs that have come back cracked or broken I can count on one hand. And that includes the one that Sebastian Cano broke after hitting the wall skate first where only a single fin broke.

So, we can not answer the question of what is going on in Steve's case until we get the wheels back and have them analyzed (which I can assure you we will just as soon as we receive them). Quality and customer service is a top priority here, but to say that there is a "weakness" in the hubs is incorrect. There is a flex designed in them for specific purposes and others are not imitating that design flexibility, so I would guess that gives it a certain credibility.

We thought we had the max power test available with Jeff Foster testing for us and I've never seen even Jeff break a hub. We've never had one break at World's or ODN or IDN either, so I can't answer the question of why it happened to Steve, but as I said, we will check into it.

As I said however, to say that because one person or very limited people have an issue with something that it is anything other than a unique and isolated situation, is a little premature at this point.

Thanks for your concern and rest assured, we will fully analyze and evaluate Steve's wheels and hubs as well as send him some replacements.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any thoughts on the issue as we always welcome input.

Wheels - White Matter F2 - hub problems

I trashed one more wheel this morning and I'm starting to take this personally this is the 3rd Matter that I have trashed. And I took another good look on the ones on the skates and atleast two more I could see tiny cracks in = they have to be changed as well.

Cracked Matter wheel hub

Don't recall where I purchased the wheels but welcome advice on how to get these replaced or if it's a hopeless cause.

BONT Generation 3 (Gen 3) 100mm Inline Speed Skate Wheels:

That Clicking Sound Could Be the Hubs Cracking, Breaking & Shredding

(July 16, 2009)
We hit another downhill and I was having fun, out front by a dozen feet at least, feeling great. Then I heard the clicking sound again and this time I knew it was a wheel problem, not a frame or GatorBrake frame alignment mix up. So we stopped again.

That's when we all took a really close look and found that the hubs of the Bont Generation 3 (Gen 3, Gen Three) had cracked, and in some cases split completely with visible gaps. I took the fourth wheel out and put the third wheel in the fourth slot with my axle in the third slot for stability. It was all good.

It's too bad, because I thought the Bont Gen 3 wheel was a good value and a very good value as prices go these days. As it stands, I might still try the Gen 4 sometime, but they are a good deal more expensive. After at least one other problem with Bont wheels (out of round) a few years back, and back then hearing other problems from others, I thought the Gen 3 were very good. But now I have to say I don't think they're designed to hold up to long distance roadskating. Your experience may vary and I welcome your comments. As for me, I miss the old Hyper Hyperformance +G and Mach 2. Even if someone proved these not as fast, I never never never had any problem with any of the hubs breaking down over the years.

Ripped Another Bont Wheel

by DrXer (Mar. 29, 2010)
I've ripped a Bont G3 wheel off the hub, just ripped a G4 off the hub yesterday. Only good thing is I wasn't going downhill in either case. Long freak'n walk back though.

This was the one that happened about 6 months ago. Identical failure last weekend. Really sucks is I threw it out with the ceramic bearings, doh!

I was skating on the veloway with another guy. As we hit the wall and I got to the crest I did a couple sharp kicks. Then my skate stopped. Didn't have a tool to remove the wheel and it acts as a really good brake. I made it halfway back on one skate but I suck at skating uphill on one skate so I walked the rest of the way back.

Oh yeah, I'm 5'9" and weigh 148 lbs.

これは110mmサイズが105mmまでスリ減った状態で使用している事を考慮た方がよさそうです。ちょとウレタン部分が薄くなり過ぎて強度不足になっているようです。

XBird 110 mm Wheel

by gui_gui (Jun. 12, 2010)
Well, here is a picture of the damage. Better late than never.

So a reminder, it is green XBird 110 mm, used speed, speed hiking, medium endurance. I should mention that their little sisters, XBird green 105mm that I use my M100 as a free ride, they have no cracks.

It's funny, it happened exactly the same thing with my Powerslide Infinity. The 110 PS Infinity, use speed: split pits. Infinity PS 105 mm, use Free Ride: no crack.

I conclude with me, 110 mm not suffer badly. The 105 best cash shocks: more rubber, kernel smaller. There must be a critical transition between 105 and 110 mm, for sure. I screwed up all my 110 mm without exception.

Ok I do not put all my wheels in photo, but they all have cracks (between 2 and 4 cracks, like that:)
and if I did the test the rebound for these wheels, and good, it bounces ... now is that it bounces as well as if it was not cracked ... I do not know.

I think I need titanium nuclei but it might be very heavy and very expensive
