子供の時から１３回も FinLine を体験している Panu （パヌー）から毎年７月に開催されるFinLine と云う、北欧フィンランドのラップランドを滑るスケートツアーの概要が発表されました。それと共に募集も開始。バス１台に乗車できる人数・・・２５人から多くても３０人が定員だと思います。滑るルートは毎年変わり、どのルートも最高のロケーションを楽しめます。途中で食事、喫茶、湖でスイミングなどしながら目的地まで小グループで次の宿泊地まで走行します。特にビール・サウナ好きのスケーターにはお勧めです。１週間も共同生活するので、スケーター同士の新密度は高くフィンランドの旅を満喫できます。

スケジュールは・・・７月９日日曜日にバスで1300km移動の旅。１０日に Nuorgam 到着後、北緯７０度越え Utsjoki までトータル７７キロ滑走。１１日は Karigasniemi まで８６キロ滑走。１２日はノルウェー経由で Muotkanruoktu まで５１キロ滑走。１３日は Inari までの５６キロ。１４日は Saariselkä まで６８キロ滑ったあと、さよならパーティ。１５日の朝、市内観光スケートしてヘルシンキへ向かう帰路へ。１６日の昼ころ Helsinki に到着。・・・と、５日間滑る事より、前後の２４時間近いバスによる長距離移動が辛いかも知れません。

FinLine 2006 300K+ skating event in Lapland (July) I am happy to inform you about this year's FinLine, FinLine 2006, which is the 15th FinLine ever. FinLine is an annual long-distance skating event in Finland, northern Europe. It is not a race but a fun skate event for those who are able to skate 50 - 80 km daytrips. You can skate at your own speed in small groups, and the service bus takes care of the rest. Because of the anniversary, we decided to have something special this year. -- No, we are not going to sleep in tents now instead of hotels and holiday villages, but we are heading now to the Finnish Lapland. -- Skating starts from the village of Nuorgam, above the N 70° parallel, in July 10th and after fascinating Lappish river & fell sceneries it ends on the top of Kaunispää fell in July 14th. The skating distance will be around 310 km (+ optional extras), divided on five skating days. However, on FinLine 2006 we don't need to skate on daytime only: during FinLine 2006, the sun does not set at all! The midnight sun shines and takes care of the lightning around the clock. FinLine 2006 consists of Lappish river and fell sceneries, midnight sun, wild reindeers, scrubby woods, some snow still left on northern slopes, and of course great surfaced roads with little traffic! BR, Panu (with experience of 13 skated FinLines) (Feb 01, 2006) _________________ Katukiitäjät - Street Gliders Finland Budgetary costs of FinLine for a participant are : * 125 € for general and service bus costs (including 1000-mile bus trip from southern Finland to Lapland and back) * 200 - 250 € for accommodations and dinners (incl. hotel breakfasts) (paid directly to the service provider) * + your personal extras, e.g. own snacks, evening drinks, whatever you like In total 325 - 375 € + your flights to Finland (current currency rates results in something around $390 - $450). This year's event is slightly more expensive because we need to travel from southern Finland to the northest end to be able to see the unique sceneries and reindeer*. (I think that Santa is having his summer holiday that time, lets see if we can see him hiking on the fells.) FinLine itself is a nonprofit event, the price should be cheap compared to a standard one-week hotel holiday in the most expensive part of Finland. We have negotiated special hotel rates and dinners for the whole group beforehand and also we organizers must pay the same (incl. registration), so it is also in our own interest to negotiate about the prices. * I remember a funny occasion: Last time when we were skating in Lapland a reindeer was calmly peeing in the middle of the road. So we had to dodge the pee flowing on the surface in full skating speed -- how a such small animal could create that kind of flood...? Hurry up: FAIK, they will reach the maximum number of participants sooner than you can expect! I wonder what has happened because these 5-day skating holidays are now more popular than ever. Also FinLine 2006 is almost overbooked already now, so if you are still thinking about SkateFresh (or FinLine), I recommend you to register immediately...
