Salomon Again Recognized for Design with the Smartskate

The Design Observeur, a prestigious design awards organized by the French Agency for the Promotion of Industrial Creations (APCI) since 1999, has for goal to recognize design as an extremely important aspect on the international scene thus promote French industrial design. An independent jury of professionals and experts award Star to remarkable products that go above and beyond the criteria set out by the APCI.

Already awarded a Star in 2002 for the Advanced Skin clothing technology, Salomon has again been recognized in 2006 taking a Star in the category 'Enhancing a Technological Innovation' with the Smartskate.

With the Smartskate, Salomon introduces THE new generation of inline skates. This concept is not simply an evolution, but a revolution for the market where social skating is a growing trend that demands innovation. Smartskate meets these needs with a real shoe, four wheels and a smart connection: 1 Shoe, 4 Wheels, Life is Simple!

Observeur du Design in 1999, in an effort to present design accomplishments resulting from company/designer partnerships that sound the keynotes for our daily life. The Observeur 2005 has been endorsed by ICSID (International council of societies of industrial design). Companies and designers from all fields and economic sectors are invited to submit entries. These design projects undergo the selection process led by a technical committee. Selected designs receive the Observeur label. The more remarkable achievements receive an Observeur star conferred by an independent panel of judges, which rewards projects that offer new features such as improved comfort, user-friendliness, reduced costs, formal innovation, respect for natural resources, anticipation of emerging needs, accessibility. The stars are a tribute to the recognition by professionals and experts of the quality of the innovative process.
